Pseudoexfoliation Syndrome (Photo)
Last updated August 19, 2007
This photograph of the eye shows pseudoexfoliation on the lens. You can see here a circular ring of whitish material on the lens. As the iris dilates and constricts, the back surface of the iris rubs on the basement-membrane like material and sheds pigment into the aqueous that can clog the trabecular meshwork and cause glaucoma.
To get a better idea of how this looks, be sure and watch our pseudoexfoliation slitlamp video from which this photograph was taken.
