Pseudoexfoliation Syndrome of the Lens (Photo)

This photo shows pseudoexfoliation of the lens. Here you can see a ring of white granular material on top of the lens. This stuff is made of a basement membrane-like material that coats the lens, zonules, and other areas throughout the body.

This is important to discover as PXF complicates cataract surgery secondary to zonular instability. To get a better idea how this looks, watch our pseudoexfoliation lens video (this picture was taken from this video).
