NVI Rubeosis of the Eye (Photo)

This microscopic photograph shows blood vessels growing on the surface of the iris. These vessels are abnormal and are called NVI or “neovascularization of the iris.” These blood vessels can grow into the iris angle and block trabecular meshwork draininage, causing a serious neovascular glaucoma.
