Cornea glue used to stop leak (Photo)

Last updated August 19, 2007

cornealglue.jpg

This photo shows an cornea that has perforated secondary to a neurotropic ulcer. These corneas are difficult to place a corneal transplant in successfully. The primary concern on presentation is to get the eye closed as quickly as possible. In this case, a few sutures were placed and glue was used to successfuly seal the leak.

To see how this eye looked before perforation, you may want to watch our neurotropic ulcer perforation video (this snapshot was pulled from that media).
