Corneal Metal Foreign Body (Photo)

Last updated September 6, 2007

This photograph was taken at the slit-lamp microscope and shows a small piece of metal sitting on the surface of the cornea. The slit-lamp beam is excellent for determining depth of involvement.

To get a better idea of how this looks in real life, and to watch the piece’s removal with a needle, watch our metal foreign body removal video. This snapshot was taken from that video.
