Lasik Epithelial Ingrowth (Photo)

lasikepithelium2.jpg

This photograph taken at the microscope, shows lasik epithelial ingrowth that has occured at the edge of the flap. The geographic lobular pattern is typical, and easily seen by direct and retroillumination. This is generally benign and occurs when epithelial cells from the surface grow under the flap after surgery.

To get an even better idea how this looks, watch our epithelial ingrowth video from which this snapshot was taken.
