HSV Dendritic Ulcer (Photo)

Last updated September 2, 2007

herpesdendrites.jpg

This photo shows the classic dendritic ulcer that you see on the cornea of the eye with herpetic keratitis. The ulcer has branching, bulbous extensions and as you can see here, lights up with fleuroscein.

To get a better view of this ulcer, check out our HSV cornea video (from which this snapshot was taken). The video is very short and a little jerky though as it was taken at the microscope in a small child.
