Cornea Guttata (Photo)

guttae.jpg

This photo of the cornea shows cornea guttae, small divots on the back surface of the cornea seen with aging and Fuches dystrophy.

Guttata are difficult to see for the new resident, as you have to focus carefully and angle your slit-lamp beam such that corneal reflections are minimized. To see what these guttae look like in real life, watch our corneal guttata video.
