EKC of the Cornea (Photos)

This photo shows an eye suffering from EKC (Epidemic Keratoconjunctivitis). If you look closely at the cornea, you can see subtle white infiltrates overlying the black pupil.

These subepithelial infiltrates are difficult for beginning residents to see. Check out our EKC video to get a better idea what they look like … the trick is to illuminate the cornea with a diffuse beam from the side.
